home located on Niagara's scenic Beamsville Wine Bench.
The Colonist House
offers two exclusive, smoke-free, garden-level rooms. Each features
antiques and contemporary appointments, a queen-sized bed, central air
conditioning, ceiling fan, cable TV and private three-piece ensuite
bathroom.
Mornings
begin with friendly conversation and a hearty home-cooked breakfast
featuring local "in season" Niagara fruits, homemade breads,
fruit preserves and hot egg dishes, served in the Century Dining Room.
Pre-dating
1840 and remodeled over the years, The Colonist House maintains the
spirit and simple pleasures of colonial life. Opened in July 2000
to again welcome quests in the continuing spirit of this home's colonial
roots, it retains the feeling of an intimate social setting accentuated
by family keepsakes, where yesterday's charm flatter today's needs
and comforts.
The Colonist House is surrounded by award winning estate wineries
on the Beamsville Wine Bench. Close by, enjoy fine dining at Peninsula
Ridge, On The Twenty and Vineland Estates, participate in preparing
your dinner at The Good Earth Cooking School or relax at EastDell's
Bistro. Enjoy estate wine tastings at Angels Gate, 30 Bench, Daniel
Lenko, Mountain Road, Crown Bench, DeSousa, Malivoire, Thomas &
Vaughan, Lakeview, Ridgepoint and Featherstone. Visit Historic Jordan
Village on the Twenty Valley route. The Shaw Theatre and Niagara Falls
are only a 35 minute drive away.
Jennifer and Lloyd
are descendants of the original 1798 Mennonite settlers. For independent
travelers, they are pleased to share their knowledge of local history,
estate winery tours and regional cuisine.
The
Colonist house is open all year. Reservations by telephone or email
are required with confirmation by VISA or MasterCard. The rate per
room per night, including breakfast and taxes is from $110.
